Within this edition, we will explore the sites one by one. We’ll start from Lake Toba, Sumatera Utara, the iconic tourist destination in North Sumatera, Indonesia.

Lake Toba lies in Simalungun Regency, North Sumatera Province, Indonesia. It is in the Bukit Barisan mountains. It is the largest lake in Southeast Asia; its size is 1,145 km2, its depth is 1,600 m (5,200 ft). It happened to be a lake as a result of a volcanic eruption of Toba Mountain thousand years ago. It caused crater that gradually filled with water, which made it became the miracle lake in Indonesia, and the globe, for sure.

Right in the middle of the lake, you will find a fascinating island named Samosir island, the hometown of Batak people. Samosir island is the origin of the Batak tribe, one of the six tribes that exist around the lake. You may visit Lake Toba and Samosir island anytime you want. Still, most of the majesty of Batak’s traditional ceremony will always be conducted from April to August yearly. The other months of the year filled with other tourist attractions to entertain visitors from around the globe as it now has a fixed calendar made by the government and local authorities.
